SecondLife’s creation tools were not designed to create physical things, so you need to be careful about what clothes, attachments and hair are used.
Things that usually work well
- Logos on clothes
- Tattoos - especially the kick ass full sleeve Japanese ones
- Boots
- Prim Skirts / Dresses (including Flexi)
- Rings
- Necklaces
- Standard Hair
- Goggles (or any kind of sunglasses where they look like they’re welded to your face)
Things that generally don’t work
- Wings
- Ribbons
- Shoes with lots of little straps
- Earrings
- Standard Skirts / Dresses
- Men’s Suit Jackets (technically skirts)
- Glasses
- Prim Hair (see the Hair section below)
Hair
We’ll likely end up needing to tweak your hair if it’s made of prims, but we’ve had some good success with doing so. Our goal is to get your avatar to a point where it will look great and be solid when fabricated.
Tips:
- You should also set Front, Side and Back Fringe to 0 as they create very narrow ridges out from your AV’s head that will likely be too fragile to crate properly.
- Play with the Rumpled Hair and Spiked Hair options at very low values to give your hair a more organic look (nobody likes helmet hair).
Create a New Outfit
- Outfits are SecondLife’s way of grouping a bunch of different clothing and shape attributes about your avatar into a single folder. Once you have an outfit created you can apply all of the settings at once by dragging it from your inventory’s “Clothes” folder onto your avatar.
You might find it helpful to create an outfit specifically for your Fabjectory figure.
To create a new outfit, right click your avatar and choose “Apperance”.
- At the bottom of the screen that appears, click the “Make Outfit” button.
- Name it “Fabjectory Outfit” or whatever you can remember, and make sure that all of the “Body Parts” are checked (Shape, Skin, Hair, Eyes).
